About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (C019499) practicing in North Carolina. I’m going into my 6th year of clinical experience.

Prior to earning my MSW from UNC Chapel Hill, I spent 10 years managing and building out cooperatively owned grocery stores. During this time I also helped co-found a summer camp program for queer and trans youth from the South, served on the board of directors for the LGBTQ Center of Durham, and facilitated a support group for trans and gender expansive people of all ages. I also hold a bachelor’s degree in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from UNC Greensboro. I’ve lived in North Carolina my entire life and identify deeply as a Southerner.

I started my therapy career as a student intern at an agency providing mental health support services to individuals with federal Refugee status in the United States. After this, I worked at a sex therapy practice for several years with individual adults and couples/relationships. Since joining BGT, I have expanded into working more with families and teens in addition to individual adults and couples.

My Approach to Therapy

My clinical social worker training guides me to take a relational, person-in-environment approach to working with clients. This means I consider your experiences and identities not only as they exist within you, but also within the larger social, cultural, and systemic contexts in which we live. I know that you are the expert on your own experience, and I believe my role is to develop a trusting and supportive working relationship with you so we can explore and untangle the things that feel overwhelming, stuck, confusing, or painful in your life. I also really believe we can find joy and levity in this process, and I view laughter as a tool of healing and connection in therapy.

My Therapy Orientation: Relational/Psychodynamic, EFT, Gottman, Harm Reduction, EMDR, DBT, CBT, and gaining competency in AEDP & ISTDP.

Areas of Expertise: I have experience working with clients of many varied identities and orientations and I am knowledgeable about topics such as anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, relationship challenges, sexual/other trauma, and communication or conflict resolution issues.
